The Hall Chest was conceptualized to not only make a statement but to also showcase craftsmanship and design by bringing the richness and silkiness of this amazing and beautiful Pommele Sapele wood to the forefront of this piece. All solid and veneered pieces where all in-house cut and matched from a single piece of wood. The almost 100 hours of the hand rubbed finish brings out the beauty and figure of these woods. From the complex bent curved doors and back, to the hand lathe turned solid sides, this seamless design takes its shape.
Starting from the stunning inlay sunbursts on the top, the grain flows from there center perfectly matching and cascading over the edge down to the feet, unbroken. The flow and symmetry don’t end there as the decorative solid Holly and African Wenge inlay present themselves in the doors bending in convex and concave planes undulating throughout the doors framing the beautiful hand turned solid Holly handle pulls with stainless steel and hand turned African Ebony accents.
Opening the doors triggers the the interior lighting to reveal the solid in house-cut solid Tiger Maple veneers that add that beautiful color contrast of the exterior to the interior. Two glass shelves are in place to hold the precious art items of a collector.
Behind the panel with Thomas Schack Furniture Designs signature TS mark hides the handmade automated lighting lift system, that with a push of a button raises two beautiful handmade stainless steel lighting elements with hand carved medallions and handmade rice paper that adds texture and warmth that diffuse the lighting to illuminate the top and the surrounding area eliminating the need for a lamp and to not disturb the elegance and beauty of the craftsmanship of the sunburst and book matching veneers in the top.
